Overview

This Boat was custom built for the city of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, by Scarano Boat Builders in Albany New York. Before I go into the specifics of this Boat Transport I would like to give both Robert and John Scarano a little kudos. They not only build a very well built custom Boat but they were very good people to work with. Check out their website, they build some very nice custom Boats.

We were originally contacted to transport this Boat from Albany New York to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by Scarano Boat works back in July. This was a difficult transport due to the height and the overall length after loading. It was over 15 feet tall and overall, 106 feet in length. Due to the shape of the hull, none of the bow would fit over the tongue of the trailer. We had the trailer stretched out an additional 16 feet to accommodate the hull shape without having a lot of overhang over the back of the trailer. With those kinds of dimensions we had a lot of issues finding a route out of New York. We ended up going all over the state ending up at the west end of New York before dropping down into Pennsylvania. Once we finally got out of New York, everything went as planned. It took 8 days to transport this Boat to Oklahoma. The original route we came up with was around 1500 miles, we ended up going over 2 thousand due to off routing and detours. We used two escorts all the way, one in back and one in front as a pole car due to the height. Thanks to the city of Oklahoma City, when we got there they loaned us 8 motorcycle police escorts to help get us into the city. President Bush only got 6 when he was there!!!!! Ken Sieler was the driver on this Boat Transport, he did a awesome job.

Customer's Review

To Whom It May Concern:

Mr. Jim Hay arranged for the transportation of the Devon Discovery from Albany, New York to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority. The Boat arrived on schedule and in perfect condition. During the trip, Mr. Hay would regularly inform us of its progress, location and estimated time of arrival. He exhibited such professionalism we have elected to retain his services in transporting two additional Boats to complete our water transportation system. Mr. Hay was extremely easy to work and communicate with. The Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority would highly recommend his services as we have enjoyed working with him.

Manufacturer's Review

Dear Jim,

On behalf of Scarano Boat, we would like to thank you and your crew for a really excellent performance on this difficult Boat Transport. As you know now, the first Oklahoma River Cruiser (65' x 14') was an extremely visible project, having been strongly promoted in the Oklahoma City media for the last year. Its progress being transported across the country was followed on a daily basis for its week of travel. This would have been no time for any mistakes and there were none. The Boat's arrival in Oklahoma City was a flawless event. Ken was treated to an 8-man police motorcycle escort right through the middle of town to the launch site. Through the entire trip you, Ken and Shari kept us all calm with daily progress reports and some terrific pictures. We look forward to working with you and your team on the next two Boats we'll be delivering to this customer.
